Back to work!

Well I ended up taking a little break from the boat for a good reason: Sailing! My wife and I attended the Havasu Pocket Cruiser Convention for a whole entire week (www.sailhavasu.com). What a great time! So I ended up spending time getting the West Wight Potter ready for the event versus working on the PaperJet.

This weekend it was back to work. I spent some quality time sanding the dagger board and the rudder down to remove some excess epoxy imperfections and get it ready for one more coat of epoxy prior to applying the marine varnish and finishing this particular project!

The sanding created this fine white powder similar to chalk dust, which even with my vacuum assisted sander made a pretty fine mess in the garage. So much so I had to mop the garage floor to get the stuff off! (definitely need a good particulate filter mask when doing this stuff!)

I taped the bottom edges as a "run" prevention and I finished up the weekend with applying the last coat to the one side. Tomorrow I will flip them and do the other side.

Once that is done I will need to give it one last sanding, install the handles and varnish the whole thing! After which it will be time to get the hull down from the garage ceiling and finish it off!
